Packet Tracer is very useful for those who want to prepare for CCNA certification. Packet Tracer 5.0 can be a fun, take-home, flexible piece of software to help with your CCNA studies, allowing you to experiment with network behavior. Packet Tracer 5.0 allows us to construct our own model or virtual networks, obtain access to important graphical representations of those networks, and animate those networks by adding their own data packets. It supports most of the CCNA commands and some of the CCNP commands. It’s very useful for CCNA certification only and it can’t be used for CCNP certification. Packet Tracer gets you with physical representations of devices, Real time and Simulation modes, and a wide variety of views and windows.

Description

This is another simulator for Cisco Systems networking hardware and software and is designed to aid the user in learning the Cisco IOS command structure. There are separate packages of Boson for CCNA and CCNP. The Boson especially useful when you prepare for CCNP certification. It supports most of the commands in CCNA and CCNP. Creating virtual network in boson is difficult compared to packet tracer. Also, there is no visual representation of packet traversal in Boson.
